The Fourth Annual Kidswrite Young Writers' Contest is now closed
We are excited to say that we had more than 200 entries and the judges—two for each category-- are now at work. Winners will be notified in late April or early May. The names of all of the writers will be posted on the awards day. Winners names will be listed here.
The Awards Day is Saturday, May 28. Everyone is invited to attend the event at The Prestige Resort and Convention Centre in Salmon Arm Please be in the room by 3:15. Contest winners should come earlier, and will be encouraged to read their poems or stories. We are privileged to have Wendy Phillips recent award winner, read from her book "Fishtailing", written for young adults.
The Awards Day is part of the Shuswap Writers' Festival, May 27-29. See this site for information about an exciting weekend that includes many known authors.
The fifth annual KidsWrite Young Writers' Contest will begin on January 12, 2012. The closing date will be February 23. The guidelines will be similar.
A big thank-you is given to all the parents and teachers who have encouraged these young writers to complete their work and to submit before the deadline. The contest is sponsored by the Shuswap Association of Writers a non-profit group dedicated to the promotion of writing and reading.
Congratulations to every writer. Remember that every author has submitted their work many times before it is published. Keep writing, keep submitting. Nothing that stays in the desk or closet is published.
You are the future Canadian authors.
